Yes! Meeting you before your actual session is so important to me! It gives us the chance to get to know each other, provides a time for us to talk about what you can expect at your session, how to prepare and what to wear, and allows me to easily and quickly answer any questions you may have. Plus, I really just like to get to know you! It’s one of my favorite parts!
Also, feel free to bring your kids along, too! I love the opportunity to talk to them and get to know them before your session, too!
How much does the consultation cost?
The consultation is FREE! I'll even treat you to coffee!
That being said, if you are a no-call, no-show for the consultation, there will be a $50 rescheduling fee. If you choose to book after rescheduling, that $50 will go towards your session retainer.
What can we expect at our session?
I like to start my sessions by chatting with you and your children. Keeping the camera down for the first part of your session helps me connect with you/your kids and helps make everyone a little more comfortable before the camera comes out. Once I feel that you are all relaxing, we will start. Typically, I will snap one "everyone look and smile" photo, to begin. Since "overly-posed and say cheese" photos aren't my jam, that is typically the only shot I will take with everyone purposely looking. From there, we will jump into the lifestyle (aka fun, in my opinion) stuff! We'll play games, I'll ask you questions, we'll chat A LOT. You will spend most of your time interacting with your loved ones and not focusing on me. The only thing I want you to plan on doing when you come into your session is have fun and love on your family LOTS!
What is the questionnaire we have to fill out?
Approximately 1 week prior to your session, you will get a questionnaire in your email. This helps me get to know your family (things you like, don't like, personality traits, etc.) before our time together. This also lets me know what your vision is for your session and how you like to display your photos, so I can plan ahead to get what you want/need. It’s just that little bit extra that I might not get when we meet for your consultation.
Where do you shoot?
My locations vary! I shoot all over Spring Creek, Lamoille and Elko. I also shoot in-home or at your favorite ice cream or coffee shop. The options are truly endless, and depend on what my client is wanting. I do require a travel fee for anything outside of the Elko, Spring Creek and Lamoille areas, though!
What should we wear?
I get it. Planning a whole family's outfits can be overwhelming! But, don't worry! We’ll cover this at your consultation, and then I’ll send you clothing options, information on how to plan the perfect outfits for your session, my favorite places to shop and how to coordinate your outfits, so you aren't too matchy-matchy. I even have a Pinterest board for you to check out for inspiration. I update it every season! And styling assistance is included in your booking fee for FREE! I am willing to come to your house and help you pick out clothes, or get images of all the options you’re considering. I’m here to help, so take advantage!
How long until I see my images?
I like sneak peeks as much as the next guy, so I post my favorite image from your session to Instagram within 3 days after your session. Your whole gallery will be ready for you to view within 3 weeks, then you’ll receive the link and password to your gallery via email, and will have access for 24 hours.
Do we have to print through you?
Photography isn’t just about snapping the photo and handing it over to me. My end-goal is to have my client’s images in their hands, on quality materials, so they can physically touch and hold them. I truly believe that physical photos are far more important than them just being stashed on a computer or only on social media. And I also know that it’s so easy to leave them there, because we get too busy and time just gets away from us.
So that’s where I come in. I want to walk you through the whole process. I want to help you nail down exactly what it is you want. And I want to take all of the work off your shoulders. I’ve done my research on high quality companies whose products will last lifetimes. I’ve calibrated my computer monitor to my professional lab, so I know what I see is what you’ll get (not some wonky colors or crazy pixelation). And all of your products will come through me first, so I can make sure that they are up to my high standards.
You will receive digital files as well, as I understand that’s what is most important to some. But, I really aim to provide my clients with an amazing experience from start to finish. And I want to share what I’m passionate about; the art of capturing real life moments and giving people the ability to enjoy them for years to come. I don’t want you to lose your photos when your computer crashes or your phone needs an update a year from now. I want to give you products that will last for decades.
What if my kids aren't cooperating or have a massive meltdown at our session?
Welcome to the club! ;) I'm a mom of two boys, so I. get. it. This is truly the beauty of lifestyle photography. No one is required to sit still and smile perfectly. I want exactly the opposite! I want to chase your kids and play with them. I want you all to tickle and laugh, and show me what your love looks like to you. Sometimes, meltdowns are just par for the course during photo shoots, but it doesn't mean they're the end-all-be-all. I want you to have faith that I will still capture some amazing moments despite the seemingly unperfected ones that are bound to happen. I've seriously never met a perfect kid, but they all give me at least a little of what we both want.
But, there are a few things that you can do to make sure your session runs as smoothly as possible:
Make sure you are all well-rested, healthy and have eaten. Adjust nap times if you have to. Bring snacks in the car and arrive early enough to clean them up and change their clothes. Let me know if anyone is sick! I'm not for making anyone suffer. I want this to be fun!
Bring water and clean snacks, just in case someone gets a little hangry mid-session.
Bring items that are special to your child, and allow them to use them for comfort if they need it.
Focus on them and doing what you know will make them feel good and relax.
If you have a baby, please bring a few of their favorite objects.
Last but not least, relax! Kids don't respond well when you're upset and trying to force them to do what you want. I know, way easier said than done! But, if you're getting too stressed, feel free to walk away and let me hang with them for a bit. :)
What if...(my house isn't perfect, my family is awkward in front of the camera, we've never taken pictures before, etc. etc. etc)?
You aren't the first and you definitely won't be the last to feel any of those things! And I'm here to tell you that it doesn't matter! No one in your family will care if your house is perfect; they'll remember the memories you made there. So, your family is awkward with a camera in their face? Mine, too! But, it's my job to help you guys relax, and I want your focus on each other, not me, which makes it feel more natural. You've never taken pictures before?! Let's get you on this bandwagon; it is sooo worth it!
